A POPULAR Village Store is closing its doors for two weeks for a refurbishment and post office service improvements after coming under new management.
Dobcross Post Office, which was run by Sukhi Singh for more than 17 years, was taken over by Anne Roscoe in June and renamed Dobcross Village Store.
They are shut from Wednesday August 2 to Tuesday August 15 (inclusive) while work is carried out to bring a fresh new lease of life into the store.
Anna wrote on their Facebook page: “Thank you to everybody for their kind words of welcome since we took over the shop. We are enjoying getting to know everyone.
“We wish Sukhi every success in his new venture and thank him for all his help and support in the transition period.
“We are happy to report the Post Office will continue to operate at the current location, although as a reduced level local branch rather than a main branch. This will just mean changes behind the scenes and not effect service provision.
“There will also be exciting developments including a full shop refurbishment, many more products in stock and extended opening hours.”
During the closure, all parcels will be redirected to Oldham sorting office so please pick up any outstanding parcels as soon as possible before closure on 1 August.
The store will reopen with a launch party on Wednesday, August 16 when all are welcome between 1-8pm to try food and drink samples, and see the new-look shop and post office.
The revamped shop will then be open with extended hours from Monday to Friday from 7am-8pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 7am-6pm.
And there will be a large stock of fresh food for sale, including bread, milk, eggs, artisan products, hot and cold drinks, snacks and meals along with everyday basics and papers.
Post Office services, including banking services, will be Monday to Friday from 9am-5.30pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 1pm.
