FRIEZLAND Bowling Club has enjoyed its most successful season winning two pieces of silverware.
The club was crowned second division champions in the Oldham Parks League and also won the divison’s knockout cup.
The team merit was won by David Harthan who has only been bowling a couple of years, but he finished third in the whole of the second division.
Team runner-up was David Hulme.
Other team members were Avril Reid (captain), Lynne Barker, Lynne Crossley, Mary Harthan, Karen O,Connor, Rita Vaughan, Frank Lamb, Margaret Brooks, Wendy Turner, Mary Whitehead and Jill Fieldhouse.
The team was formed by David and Shirley Sykes, Roz Lord and Christine Ellis as Greenfield Gentleman’s Bowling Club.
That closed in 2000 and after two years at Greenfield Paper Mill, which also shut, they moved to Friezland Bowling Club that has been home ever since.
