ANYONE WANTING to take to the water is invited to a Dovestone Sailing Club open day on Saturday, May 9.
The club is open to all to have a try at sailing. If you are interested then it is essential you book a slot by calling Jim Carrigan, the club commodore, on 0779 623 3774 or by email jim4york@yahoo.co.uk
The club is a Royal Yachting Association training site and all visitors will be joined by a fully qualified instructor for their time on the water.
The open day is part of the RYA “Push the Boat Out” initiative which aims to get more people on the water, whether you’re a regular sailor, new to the sport or simply want a day out with the family.
“Push the Boat Out” provides the perfect opportunity for everyone to get out on the water and have a great day out.
The UK is a world leader in the sport of sailing and most sailors start in a small dinghy on a lake.
Please wear clothing suitable for the day, a buoyancy aid will be provided. The minimum age for children is seven but all children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
