DRAMA CAME to a busy main road linking Saddleworth to Huddersfield yesterday.
A double-decker 184 bus from heading to Diggle got stuck for more than four hours when its chassis grounded on the A62 road surface.
The incident, which caused traffic disruption, happened at the junction with a sideroad leading to Diggle village.
A local resident said: “I heard a loud bang and saw the bus stuck partially across the main highway.
“No one was hurt and the bus company were at the scene.”
A spokesman for First Bus said: “The disruption involved service 184 which got stuck at approximately 2.30pm in Diggle.
“First Manchester representatives attended the scene and supported the driver and the release of the bus shortly before 6pm.
“Bus diversions were put in place via Huddersfield Road.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers.”
