Dynamos dream come true for David

NEW CHAIRMAN: David Broadbent

LIFE HAS turned full circle for David Broadbent, the new chairman of 3D Dynamos.

It was back in 1992 when David, who is now aged 33, and his younger brother Paul  first began playing for the club from Delph, Dobcross and Denshaw – hence ‘3D’.

The club was formed by David’s parents David and Val along with Alison and Wayne Holroyd to provide football for their sons.

From those embryonic days, 3D Dynamos have grown to today having 19 teams. These range from mini soccer for those aged four/five years to two open-age team and an over-35’s veterans side.

David, who played for 3D Dynamos between 1992/2007, was asked to become chairman after Iain Anderson stood down because of increased work commitments.

David, a Sales and Marketing Executive for Oldham Athletic, said: “The committee meeting to discuss the vacancy and my name was suggested because of my lengthy involvement with the club.

“3D Dynamos has always meant a lot to me and I could not say no when asked to become chairman.”

David added his goal is to help the club continue to flourish and also increase its profile even further.

And ultimately David says the long-term aim is to one day have their own clubhouse and pitches which they can call home.

He said: “Our teams play all over Saddleworth and Oldham so one day it would be nice to have our own permanent home.

“A steering committee was set up some time ago, but it is proving difficult finding somewhere suitable in Saddleworth.”
