HOMELESSNESS CHARITY Emmaus Mossley is hosting a special event on Thursday 17 March, focussed on pre-loved clothing and textiles.
With Brits throwing away seven tonnes of clothes every ten minutes, Emmaus Mossley is keen to showcase creative ideas to reuse, recycle and upcycle unwanted garments and textiles.
The ‘ChangesOne’ clothing and textiles event will include a fashion design competition for the best upcycled outfit.
On the night there will also be a vintage and designer clothes sale, fancy dress rails, bargain fabric bundles and textile products made at the charity’s second hand superstore on Queen Street.
Hazel Hodkinson, Shop Manager at Emmaus Mossley, said: “The ChangesOne event will give everyone a chance to bag some bargain outfits and hopefully inspire people to get creative with their unwanted clothes and textiles.
“Our second hand superstore in Mossley will be packed with clothes and textiles as well as our usual assortment of vintage items, collectables, furniture, books, music and bric-a-brac.”
The event is a follow up to other successful evening events held at Emmaus Mossley in 2015.
Companions – formerly homeless people who now live and work at Emmaus – staff and volunteers handpick the best items and create unique displays to show off what Emmaus Mossley has to offer.
Neil Williams, companion at Emmaus Mossley, said: “We’ll have our great clothes sale – four items for £5 as well as special designer and vintage rails, rummage areas and a brand new tool shed area filled with fixtures and fittings.
“We promise cool clothes, cool music and great prices. The fun never stops at Emmaus.”
The ‘ChangesOne’ event will take place on Thursday 17 March from 5:30pm at Emmaus Mossley, Longlands Mill, Queen Street, Mossley OL5 9AH.
