Enjoy a magical Christmas with Cinderella

MAKE YOUR Christmas magical this year by watching one of the most enchanting of all fairy tales right on your doorstep.

Cinderella is brought to you by Pendle Productions in partnership with Tameside Council and the show’s producers are promising the most beautiful princess to cheer and the ugliest Ugly Sisters to shout boo at.

With comedy provided by Buttons and Baron Hard up, there has never been a more uplifting production to tour the region. 72516 Cinderella A3 poster-1

Expect the unexpected and prepare to be amazed by the dazzling dance routines, up-tempo songs and the magical Fairy Godmother who weaves a romantic spell over the proceedings.

More than 300 children will star in the professional production, which contributes towards their Arts Award Programme.

But show producer Tim Lince admitted choosing the songs for a pantomime with such a wide audience is never an easy job.

He said: “It has to be a careful mix of traditional and new so that we can appeal to all generations.

“It is a year round task to listen to all the record releases and try to match up songs with scenes and the voices of the cast.

“Also since it is Tameside’s brightest and biggest pantomime with over 300 children taking part, we have to be mindful of what is going to be big in the future and captivates young people’s imagination.”

But as the talented youngsters began their rehearsals, the most important song of all – the one Cinderella sings on her first entrance – eluded the producers.

“It has to be a song of hope that has an uplifting story and truly represents the hopes and ambitions of all the cast and juveniles in presenting this pantomime,” Tim commented.

After listening to thousands of hours of music they finally stumbled across the song they were looking for.

Listening to the Terry Wogan Sunday Show on Radio 2, Tim heard Emma Stevens, who has just released her first album called Enchanted, and picked out ‘A Place Called You’ from her album as a perfect fit for the pantomime.

After discussions with the new artist and her team, Emma said she felt it was a great idea to use the song in production.

Tim added: “I hope we can persuade Emma to visit the Juvenile performers when she next plays in Manchester as I’m sure her support means a lot to the participating children.”
