MORE THAN 1,000 people thronged Dawson’s Field in Scouthead for a family Fun Day in the sun.

Organised by the Saddleworth and Lees District Partnership along with the Scouthead and Austerlands Community Group, the event offered fun activities for all ages.
There were arts and crafts, music and dance, multi sports, Saddleworth donkeys, an inflatable jungle run, a tombola and food and refreshments.
Stalls from local groups and organisations included Men in Sheds, Scouthead and Austerlands Community Group and the Police and Police Cadets.
Cllr Derek Heffernan, who visited with his grandson, said: “It is a great event for families and is so well organised. Last year was good and this one was even better.”
Cllr Enid Firth added: “It’s a wonderful event and the District Partnership do a great job in organising it and getting the community involved.”
