THERE WILL be fun for all the family at the legendary Saddleworth Show at a new venue on Sunday, June 28.
The joint project between the Saddleworth and Oldham Metro Rotary Clubs will be held this year at Well-i-hole Farm, Greenfield, with gates open from 10am.
Show chairman, Steve Hughes, of Oldham Metro Club, revealed: “The plan is to take the show back to its roots.
“It will focus on a Country Fair concept with acts, attractions and activities for children and families which will build on that theme.
“It is going to be a great show and a fabulous afternoon out for all the family,” he declared.
Organisers have lined up an impressive array of attractions including falconry, chainsaw carvers, donkeys, llamas, a petting zoo, sheep shearing and stone carvers.
There will also be a climbing wall, dry stone walling, archery, fly fishing and a casting contest along with craft and sport demonstrations.
Brought all the way from America, there will be a Giant Ferris Wheel to offer a traditional ride for all the family.
The wheel has travelled all over the USA, including the New York State Fair, before being purchased by Kim and Walter Wright and making its first UK appearance at the Tameside Christmas Market in 2014.
And don’t forget the children’s fairground, a Farmers market, handmade stalls and brass bands who will be entertaining throughout the day.
Car enthusiasts will able to admire a display of classic cars while the show’s highly-popular Duck Race will take place in the afternoon on the River Tame which flows through the site.
Entry costs just £5, and accompanied children under 16 go free. There is ample free parking at the site.
