Family fun for all at Saddleworth Show and new musical Wellifest

Saddleworth Show organisers look forward to this year’s event as well as the introduction of musical extravaganza Wellifest…

One of the rides at last year’s event

The Rotary Clubs of Saddleworth and Oldham Metro organise the Saddleworth Summer Show every year to raise funds and local and Rotary charities.

Rotarians give up their time completely free of charge so that all the funds raised benefit the charities fully.

This year marks a new event for the Saddleworth Summer Show with the introduction of Wellifest Music Festival on the Saturday afternoon and evening of June 30.

We hope families will come and enjoy a fantastic community event, with music to suit all tastes.

There will be six hours of entertainment featuring a mix of musical genres from tributes to Britney Spears, Lionel Richie and Boy George to headliners Blackballed.

Tickets cost £15 per adult and are available online www.wellifest.com or from The Royal George, Greenfield, or just turn up and pay on the day at the event.

And there are special prices for children:

  • pre-school children under 5 accompanied by an adult can get in for free
  • children aged 5-11 pay £5 when accompanied by an adult
  • 12-16 year olds pay £15 when accompanied by adult

Gates open at 3pm with immediate access to the food and drink stalls, and there is free parking at the site. Live music starts at 4pm.

Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult because alcohol will be available from the bars and stalls, and the security on site will be keeping a check at all times to ensure everyone has a great time.

Camping onsite is also available – contact Well-i-hole farm on: 01457600208 or email: info@well-i-holefarm.co.uk for details.

The Show itself on Sunday, July 1 will be bigger than ever, with something for all ages from the very young to the older family members.

This is the largest community event in the area and we would encourage families to come and enjoy a wonderful day’s entertainment.

Visitors enjoying last year’s event

The main attraction this year is Circus Sensible with free shows and workshops throughout the day.

Another popular attraction this year is the free to enter Companion Dog Show, open to all four-legged friends from scruffy crossbreeds to pedigree pets.

There will be all this plus a fairground, children’s inflatables and trampolines, pony rides, music showcases including Brazilian drummers, Rock Choir, local youth acts and music acts, dry stone wall builders, stone carvers, Oldham Mountain Rescue Team, new and vintage cars, crafts and charity outlets, commercial outlets, and Mahdlo bringing activities for youngsters.

And the traditional Duck Race will take place on the River Tame near the site at 4pm, when organisers expect around 2,000 ducks to be released down the waterway.

If all this makes you hungry and thirsty, there will be lots of different food outlets and a bar.

Gates open at 10am and close at 6pm. There is free car parking at the site. Entry is payable on the gate at £6/adult; £3/12-16yrs and free for all under 12s. Find out more online: https://saddleworthshow.com
