Fantastic December for Saddleworth WI is sign of times to come in 2020

A FANTASTIC month of December for Saddleworth Women’s Institute saw them end the year how they intend to carry on in 2020 – busy!

The group enjoyed a trip to The Lowry to see Mathew Bourne’s Red Shoes, took part in a wreath-making workshop at the Flower Shop in Uppermill and visited Harrogate to sample the delights of the Country Life Christmas Fair.

They also joined in the Santa Dash, did a Sunday Christmas Walk to see the light displays, partied the night away at The White Hart, Lydgate, and enjoyed the Sleeping Beauty panto at the Millgate Arts Centre, Delph.

Their guest speaker at their Christmas Party meeting was close-up magician Robert Ellams. He entertained with his magic tricks, anecdotes of life in the local Magic Circle and how he turned his hobby into a career.

There were also plenty of party games, songs from members and a Christmas Wear Competition, which was won by Yvonne Wilkinson.

Their January meeting sees Michelle Nye of Chocolate and Truffles, based in Skipton, visit to talk about her passion for making her own chocolates, as well as doing a chocolate tasting.

The meeting will be on Monday, January 6 in the Oak Room of The White Hart, Lydgate, at 7pm for 7.30pm start.Please note this is not on our normal day (Monday instead of a Wednesday).

Saddleworth WI meets on the first Wednesday of the month in the Oak Room at The White Hart, Lydgate, at 7pm for 7.30pm start.
