A NOVEL idea of a pub take away has been launched by staff at a popular Greenfield pub.
Tasty meals on offer include mouth-watering steak and kidney pudding, homemade with chunks of braised steak and kidney in a suet with chips and peas for £5.95, or braised steak and ale pie with a puff pastry lid with a choice of boiled potatoes, hand cut chips or mash.
Janet said: “Jean and I both worked at the Waggon Inn in Uppermill for twelve and a half years and when the landlord left we thought we would set up our own kitchen called the Stock Pot at the Wellington.
“We have a large menu which also caters for pensioners from 12-3pm on Tuesdays to Fridays, which is £5.50 for two courses.
“Everything is geared up and ready for people to phone in their orders on setting off from work and we just place it in take away wrappings so when they call in their tea is ready and they have no need to start cooking at home.
“All our food is locally sourced – our meat is from Tim Scott the Butcher in Greenfield, our fish is freshly delivered from Fleetwood for our haddock and chips with mushy peas.
“We hope to put the message out to people that they don’t have to cook but can get a healthy hearty meal from the Stock Pot without slaving over a hot stove.”
