Find your rhythm at a Spring Swing Ball

A SPECTACULAR evening of swing music and dancing in aid of local charities looks set to be a highlight of the Saddleworth social calendar this year.

The Spring Swing Ball on Saturday, March 22 will bring a star-studded line-up to the Civic Hall in Uppermill so residents can dance all night, with all profits going to good causes.

PERFORMERS: The Big Shot Sing Orchestra

The event, which has a smart dress code, will begin with a prosecco and canapés reception from 7pm while guests mingle and soak up the atmosphere.

After a warm welcome by the evening’s compere Peter Young OBE, local singer Rachel Booth will launch the entertainment by drawing from her wide repertoire of popular songs.

Then after a short interval it will be time to kick off your shoes and dance the night away as David James and The Big Shot Swing Orchestra take the stage.

The 17-piece Big Band, fronted by crooner David James Bottomley of Dobcross, has been thrilling audiences up and down the country with songs and arrangements both old and new.

The Orchestra comprises top class musicians from world famous bands including Black Dyke, Grimethorpe Colliery, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the London West End Show Band, Martha and The Vandellas, Stax of Soul and The Blues Brothers touring band.

And Big Jim’s Disco will finish the evening for those still wanting more.

All tables have now sold out but there is a limited number of individual tickets at £20 per head still on sale, allowing access to the seating upstairs, the main bar area and dance floor.

Tickets are available from Dobcross Band Club, The Swan Inn in Dobcross, or by contacting Dave Bottomley by emailing davejames90@msn.com or calling 07778 293031.
