Already a 400 metres move into the centre of Uppermill is paying dividends for Freedom Travel and Cruise Limited.
Situated on the High Street in a building formerly home to Uppermill Post Office and with eye-catching signage, you don’t need a map or signpost to find Freedom Travel’s new destination.
“Over the last 11 years our business has thrived even though our other little shop was at the ‘quieter’ end of Uppermill,” says business founder Gerry Yiatrou.
“So much so that we began to outgrow the premises at 123 High Street.
“When the Post Office became available we decided this was the perfect spot to give us the BIG High Street presence we wanted plus a larger shop too.
“We wanted to create a suitable environment that would enhance our clients’ holiday planning experience. We believe we have done this with our new travel showroom.
“In a climate of travel agents closing down, or down scaling, our business has been successful enough to see our company grow both in size and location,” added Gerry whose daughter Melissa and husband David are also part of the expanding empire.
Between them the trio have more than 50 years of travel industry experience.
They are particularly well informed about the cruise market which is why customers locally, national and even overseas seek out their deals and advice.

“We sell a variety of currencies and are confident we offer the best rates in the Saddleworth area,” added Gerry.
“And we will still be here selling currency after NatWest closes in June.”
