Frightful events to thrill this Halloween in Oldham

FRIGHTFUL EVENTS will thrill this Halloween in Oldham from October 24 to 31.

The eerie events start on Saturday, October 24 with the return of the popular Spooky Saturday event in the town centre.

Meet Scooby Doo and the Mad Professors, take part in themed arts and crafts sessions, and even get up close and personal with some real creepy crawlies.

Oldham Libraries will be opening their new book store the ‘Bookmark-it’, on Albion Street, for spine tingling storytelling from 10.30am and then a book signing from Kirsty Greenwood at 2pm.

Visitors can also help the team decorate the new shop with recycled books throughout the day.

Or join Shopping Susie at the Arty Party on the same day at 10am-12noon or 1pm-3pm in Spindles Town Square Shopping to create spook-tacular Halloween crafts to take home.

And for film buffs there are two screenings of hit film The Witches (PG), at Oldham Library’s newly refurbished Performance Space at 6pm on October 24 and Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (U) on October 3 at, 2pm.

If you’re looking to scare the pants off your friends or family then the Oldham and Uppermill Ghost Walks are a must, guiding walkers through the scariest areas to uncover stories from the past.

The Oldham walks start from Oldham Coliseum at 8pm and the Uppermill walks leave from the Civic Hall, Uppermill, at 8pm, on 29, 30, 31 October.

Or enjoy an afternoon out in Chadderton Hall Park on October 31 from 1pm-3pm and join in treacherous treasure hunts, marvel at scary circus skills and enjoy eerie arts and crafts from 1-3pm.

You can park for free for up to three hours on all Council-owned town centre car parks every Saturday and Sunday, making it even easier to attend these great events. To qualify for this offer you must take a ticket from the pay and display machine.
