Gareth Gates to visit Oldham Coliseum in ‘Mad About Musicals’ tenth anniversary tour

A WHISTLE stop tour of all the very best songs from the musicals we know and love will bring Oldham Coliseum to life for one night only.

‘Mad About Musicals’ will stop off at the theatre on Monday, November 2 as part of its tenth anniversary nationwide tour starring Gareth Gates and Michael Courtney.

The West End cast will thrill the audience with by numbers from Rodgers and Hammerstein, Kander and Ebb, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Boublil and Schonberg and more.

From the bittersweet ‘All I Ask Of You’ to the powerful ‘One Day More’, the critically acclaimed show will bring two hours of unforgettable London and New York favourites.

Hailed as ‘outstanding!’ by theStage, the best show of its kind’ by Encore Magazine and nominated in 2008 forThe UK ‘producer of the year’ this is one not to miss.

Gates and Courtney head the cast of the production, which kicks off at the Palace Theatre Redditch on 1 October.

They will be joined on stage by musical theatre actresses Rosanne Priest, Kerry O’Dowd and Nichola Lagen.

Gates rose to fame in the inaugural Pop Idol TV show in 2001/2 and has gone on to sell more than 5 million records worldwide.

His version of Unchained Melody sold over a million copies in the UK and he is the youngest ever-male solo artist to debut at number 1.

More recently he has had a successful career in musical theatre and has appeared in Les Miserables, Legally Blonde and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

He said of the show: “Mad About The Musicals is a show that will appeal to absolutely everyone – there has been some amazing music to come out of theatre shows in the last few decades, and we will be paying homage to the very best.

“Some shows I have been lucky enough to appear in, like my all-time favourite Les Miserables, and some will be new songs for me to sing.  From Miss Saigon to We Will Rock You, it’s pure entertainment!.”

Meanwhile, Courtney has produced and directed the UK tours of Waterloo, Shakin All Over, Its D’Lovely, A Night Of Musicals, and over 30 UK Pantomimes.

‘Mad about Musicals’ come to Oldham Coliseum Theatre on Monday, November 2, show starts at 7.30pm.
