GENEROUS FUNDRAISERS from the Saddleworth Women’s Institute presented cheques of £1,250 to each of their chosen charities for 2012 after a successful year of fundraising.
The presentation at the Saddleworth Hotel saw Oldham Cancer Suppport, Saddleworth Special Needs Playgroup and Oldham Mountain receive the money to help local people.
Fundraising events included an evening with adventurer Felicity Aston, Shop Local 2012, a swishing event, a car boot sale and a salsa party with the Giddy Gringos.
The WI is concentrating on one charity for 2013 – Oldham Bereavement Support Service – and has fundraising events in the pipeline already.
