WRAP UP your Christmas shopping early with the Saddleworth Women’s Institute as they hold their fantastic festive Christmas Market on Wednesday, November 6.
The shopping evening at the Saddleworth Hotel will feature more than 20 stalls offering a variety of crafts, jewellery, handbags, handmade mirrors, clothing, candles, festive confectionery, jams and speciality foods.
Everyone is welcome to come along to enjoy the market and kick-start their Christmas shopping with some unique and bespoke gifts.
For WI members, normal subscription charges apply and there will be an entry fee of £2 for guests and visitors, which includes a complimentary glass of mulled wine and the chance to win some great raffle prizes.
Doors open at 7.30pm and all profits will go to the WI’s chosen charity for 2013, which is Oldham Bereavement Support Service, helping to train new counsellors and volunteers for their Child Grief Team.
Then on December 4, the WI will have their last meeting of the year when they hold their Christmas Party, a traditional evening filled with mulled wine, mince pies and songs from their choir.
And the group is already getting ready for 2014, with preparations for their fourth Shop Local Festival in conjunction with Saddleworth Parish Council well underway.
The event will be held at the Civic Hall, Uppermill, on Sunday, March 16, when local retailers can showcase their products as well as raise funds for the WI’s chosen charities.
For further information or to book one of the 40 stalls available, please e-mail tricia.leigh@btinternet.com or call 07866 541560.
Further details of events, activities and subgroups including food and drink, cinema and book club, and a programme of speakers can be found on their website: www.saddleworthwi.com.
New members and guests are always welcome at meetings, and non-members can attend up to three meetings before joining. There is a voluntary donation of 50p from members and £2 from non-members per meeting towards running costs and refreshments.
