More than 40 local traders showcased their wares, including jewellery, bags, fudge and toffee, pies, toys, cards, crafts and gifts, over two floors.

And the Hotel’s fires were roaring and festive music played as guests enjoyed refreshments while they shopped.

Jess Moreland, Saddleworth WI president who sported a bright elf outfit for the event, said: “We were really busy all day, which was great.

“We wanted a family dynamic and we’ve certainly got that as people of all ages came along to do some Christmas shopping.”

Money raised will go to the Saddleworth WI’s three chosen charities for the year: Saddleworth Rangers, Oldham Support for Carers of Autism, and Homestart.

Saddleworth WI meet the first Wednesday of each month at 8pm at the Saddleworth Hotel. New members and guests are always welcome. Guests can attend one ‘taster’ meeting before joining the WI and the annual subscription is due in January 2018. Donation of £1 per member and £3 for non-members per meeting towards running costs and refreshments.

Their ‘Jam and Jerusalem’ 2018 Calendar is on sale across Saddleworth at £7.50.
