A SADDLEWORTH nursery school has come top of the class after its first Ofsted inspection for four years.
Diggle Day Nursery and Education Centre received ‘outstanding’ gradings in four categories from inspector, Layla Davies, including: effectiveness of leadership and quality of teaching.
The news is an early present for the Huddersfield Road facility that celebrates its fifth birthday in February.
Diggle Nursery, whose 18 staff are responsible for 90 pre school youngsters, was previously rated ‘good’ in August 2013.
The latest inspection was completed on November 16, 2017 and their ‘outstanding’ report published the following month.
Proud manager Stacey Hesford revealed: “We actually got told the good news on the day of the inspection so I was able to tell all the staff.
“You are always nervous before an Ofsted inspection,” added Stacey from Mossley.
“But I was also pretty confidant because of the saying we always use: happy children, happy parents and happy staff.”
To that list she can also add ‘happy inspector’ Ms Davies reported: “Staff receive outstanding support to help improve their already excellent skills and knowledge.
“Teaching is regularly evaluated and staff are provided with superb, highly focused supervision sessions and training.
“Children’s safety is given the utmost priority and safe guarding is effective.
“Staff use every opportunity to provide fascinating activities and new experiences.”
Diggle Nursery was also declared ‘outstanding’ for ‘personal development, behaviour and welfare’ plus ‘outcomes for children’.
“All children are remarkably self-assured individuals who have a strong thirst for learning,” concluded the report.
“Children are exceptionally well prepared for future learning and school.”
The nursery, based in the former Wrigley Mill Methodist Church and offering provision for babies through to pre school children, is open Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 6pm.
“We are so so proud of all of our staff, children and families,” added Stacey. “We would like to thank parents and carers for their positive feedback and support in helping us achieve this.”
