Greenfield business bares their ‘soles’ to raise £2,000 for Mahdlo

DARING FUNDRAISERS from a kind-hearted Greenfield company bared their ‘soles’ for Mahdlo Youth Zone as they took on a sponsored firewalk.

Team Spirit, an event management company, are no strangers to the weird and wonderful so could not refuse the challenge last month to support their nominated charity.

Led by CEO Ian Taylor, 13 members of Team Spirit put their best foot forward to cross 20ft of hot coals along with members of Team Mahdlo and other supportive fundraisers.

And the fantastic effort saw the Team Spirit raise more than £2,000 for the Youth Zone – smashing their target of £500.

Ian commented: “I’m incredibly proud to support such a great cause in our local community. I am an Oldham lad born and bred so to see the great work Mahdlo do fills me with joy.

“When we heard about the charity firewalk we had no hesitation, we were in feet first!”

Overall, around £7,000 was raised for the youth centre, which is open seven days a week, 52 weeks a year to offer activities and opportunities to young people aged 8-21 years old.

Claire Crossfield, Private Sector Development Manager at Mahdlo, said: “Thank you all so much for helping us to raise an awesome amount.”

Mahdlo President and prominent local business figure, Norman Stoller CBE added: “Without the partnership of the Council and brilliant supporters, our Youth Zone couldn’t survive.

“We hope we are producing a better behaved, educated and motivated assembly of young people prepared for the world of work to make your future prospects better by a higher standard of employees.”
