GREENFIELD CRICKET Club is celebrating a ‘coup’ as it launches a new youth academy under the tutorship of former Lancashire professional John Abrahams.
A select group of seven juniors aged 16/17 have been chosen to attend the academy for six weeks of training at Ashton Total Cricket Centre starting in February.
They will receive training from Mr Abrahams, who has coached Lancashire U19s and England U19s after an illustrious playing career.
Fred Bottom, one of the longest serving coaches at Greenfield, was delighted to announce the project.
He said: “It is quite a coup for the club. We have been very lucky to get John’s services and with the experience he brings, we decided to call it an academy.
“Many of the boys will move into the first team this year and John’s help will be fantastic for them.
“After the sessions, he’ll come along to see how they are getting on and continue to advise them on where to go from there.
“We’re very excited to start it and we’re hoping to make it regular and carry on for other groups of boys.”
Is that the MPs husband?
I believe that Deborah Abrahams is married to a cricket player.
