Grimshaw suffers head injury but Tyson now in clear for Roughyeds

SCOTT Naylor has promised that Oldham RL Club will be back to their pre-Hull KR form against Dewsbury Rams at Bower Fold on Sunday, March 5 (3pm kick-off)

oldham roughyeds (deleted 8718b7ceef4027a796af27c644ade372)Danny Grimshaw suffered a head injury after half an hour and will be assessed during the week, but George Tyson has now cleared his four-match ban after being sent off for striking at the end of the pre-season Law Cup game against Rochdale.

Forwards Liam Thompson and Ben Davies will be all the better for their first Championship games of the season against KR, whose 48-0 win followed a 54-24 triumph against Bradford Bulls in their only previous home game.

Roughyeds will also be hoping to have dual-reg players available to them — support they didn’t get when they needed it most on Humberside.

Said Naylor: “The only real injury was that to Danny Grimshaw. There were a few bruised bodies, but a lot more bruised egos.

“We’ll have a good talk on Tuesday about it, but we definitely won’t be playing like that next Sunday. I’ll sort it out. Before Hull KR we were doing nearly everything right. In that game we did nearly everything wrong.

“Taking the positive view, we might have got our problems out of the way all at once.”

Roughyeds have had arguably the most challenging first month of Championship rugby of all the teams in the competition with home games against Sheffield Eagles and full-time London Broncos and away tests at Featherstone Rovers and Hull KR, both of whom are unbeaten after four games.

Naylor’s men have dropped to ninth, above Sheffield, Dewsbury and Bradford, who began on minus ten and are now on minus six.

Still without a win, Dewsbury have scored only 14 points in total against Swinton and London at home and Rochdale and Toulouse away.

Having had two poor crowds against Sheffield and London, Naylor and his men are hoping fans will turn up in numbers on Sunday to back Roughyeds in their mission to return to winning ways.
