QUIZZERS put their knowledge to the test at a charity event organised by Handelsbanken Oldham to raise £1,500 for Mahdlo Youth Zone.

20 teams entered a battle of the brains in aid of the youth centre, which provides activities and support seven days a week for young people.
Gareth Nixon, Head of Business Development at Mahdlo, said: “At Mahdlo we strive to provide excellent opportunities for our young members. We were thrilled that Handelsbanken wanted to support us in this way.
“Mahdlo did enter a team in the quiz, but despite not being victorious there were no sore losers; it was a fantastic night and raised money that will directly impact the young people of the town.”
Scott Parkinson, Branch Manager at Handelsbanken said: “It was an easy decision to support Mahdlo at this year’s Annual Professionals Charity Quiz as the work they do is inspirational.
“The quiz itself was keenly fought with a team from Seftons Accountants just edging out two other teams on a tiebreak question.”
Another £750 was raised for the youth zone by N Brown Group’s Shaw distribution factory at their 2017 Golf Day.
20 teams took to Brookdale Golf Course in Failsworth for a day of golf and then dinner with guest speaker, footballer Dean Windass.
The money was added to another £150 raised earlier in the year with a raffle and sponsored ‘Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow’ event where Operations Manager Nick Walker was sponsored to have his hair cut off.
