THE team at Dr Kershaw’s Hospice was blown away as HighStreet Hair raised a staggering £795 for patient care. Offering hair treatments, blow dries and pamper packages, the salon in Lees organised a well-being day to raise funds for the Royton-based hospice.
Led by owner, Megan Buckley, the team at HighStreet Hair as well as her family, colleagues and friends, pulled together to make the fundraiser a special and successful day, pampering patients from the hospice.
It is not long until another special day as Megan is due to get married in April and is organising her own huge wedding in a barn/field.
Megan said: “With just 10 weeks to the wedding it has been quite stressful juggling everything but I’m very excited to be a married woman!
“It’s a cause so close to home, a lot of our clients have had family pass away at Kershaw’s.
Everyone who enters our salon is a friend and our fundraiser was a nice reminder that there are such lovely people out there.”
They also had a raffle which local businesses, clients and friends donated to. The star prize was a diamond solitaire necklace which was won by one of Megan’s team.
Because of the success of the event, Megan has pledged to make it an annual affair, saying: “We hope to do something every year at the end of January for Kershaw’s, whether that’s a coffee morning or a well-being day.”
Special thanks to Asda, Shaw, who donated food for the event.
Dr. Kershaw’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care for adults with life-limiting illnesses in a peaceful and homely environment. The hospice requires £8,000 per day in order to continue providing care free of charge to patients.
