A TALENTED junior hairdresser is on track to become a top stylist after receiving some of the best training possible from an established Lydgate salon.
With more than 30 years’ experience, Jo Ferns and her team use the latest innovative hair techniques to ensure every visitor leaves feeling ready to hit the red carpet.
And junior Milly Heyes believes it is the perfect place to learn her trade so she is a cut above the rest.
Milly complements her role at Jo Ferns with training at the prestigious Michael John Hairdressing Academy in Manchester
She said: “I am really passionate about hairdressing. I love working at Jo Ferns and it feels more like a family than a group of colleagues.
“I really enjoy learning and trying new things every day. Everybody helps each other out and we work really well as a team. It’s a great environment in which to flourish.
“It is very hands on which I find better and more fulfilling than just learning in a classroom at college.
“There is nothing better than getting up in the morning and looking forward to going to work.”
Milly joined the salon with no previous experience or training but has learned everything from the basics of washing and cutting hair right through to colours and finishing services.
She is one of a team of ten juniors and stylists of all ages at the salon, with more places set to open up in the near future.
Jo Ferns, who also runs salons in Ashton and Chadderton and has been a hairdresser for many famous faces, said proudly: “Milly is the most important member of our team.
“She is always happy to help others with whatever they need and nothing is too much for her to do.
“She will go on to fulfil her potential and finish her training to become a fully-fledged stylish in the next 12 months.
“It is really nice for us when we have watched and helped someone develop through their training and come to fruition as a talented stylist.”
Meanwhile, glamorous ladies gathered at Jo Ferns Salon at Lydgate for an evening of pampering at a ‘Guilt Free Mothers Club’ event.
Jo Ferns, the salon owner, was joined by clients and friends, including Real Housewives of Cheshire star Tanya Bardsley, for the evening.
Jo said: “It was a fantastic turn out and a great night was had by all. We did a few hair demos and treated clients to drinks, nibbles and hair dos.
“Chloe Alexandra, our resident make-up artist was on hand for make overs, which the guests immediately took her up on.”
Jo Ferns Salons offer a full range of hair services starting from just £20 for a blow wave with conditioning treatment, all the way up to beautiful hair extensions for that full ultra-glam look. Complimentary refreshments are included.
