A PRESTIGIOUS landmark achievement award has been presented to the chief executive of Oldham’s largest housing association at the national Women in Housing Awards.
Cath Green, from First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) received the accolade at a glittering ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester, hosted by Olympian Diane Modahl and with special guest speaker and entertainer Lulu.
Ms Green was nominated by colleagues and knew nothing about the awards entry until she received notification that she was on the shortlist.
She said: “I am really proud of this award. It was a fantastic atmosphere at the event, and the reception from the women in the room was breathtaking.
“I am a strong believer in teamwork. You need great people around you to be successful and I have that with my team at FCHO.”
The Women In Housing Awards was established in 2013 to seek out and reward the very best female leaders, innovators and sheer grafters in the social housing sector.
The landmark achievement award recognises those who have worked in the social housing sector for more than 20 years and who demonstrate the ethos of the spirit of the awards.
Cath joined FCHO as chief executive in November 2010, is a member of Oldham’s Health and Wellbeing Board and chairs the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Group Training Agreement Board.
She is also part of a team creating a series of Greater Manchester Housing Providers’ Anti-poverty pledges to improve the lives of residents in financial inclusion, fuel poverty, food poverty, digital inclusion and the living wage.
Penni Pennington, Women in Housing Awards Event Director, said: “We applaud all the shortlisted nominees and winners in this year’s Women in Housing Awards.
“The standard of nominees that were presented to our industry expert judges was exceptional.
“Our huge congratulations to Cath Green for this considerable achievement and we are delighted that her passion and commitment to deliver fantastic, innovative services has been recognised.”
