Lees Tandoori takeaway is still serving up a treat after 32 years

NOT many takeaways or restaurants can say they have been serving up a tasty treat for more than three decades – but Lees Tandoori can.The Indian takeaway on Lees High Street was opened in 1987 by Mr Rahman and since then has been serving “quality and quantity” to thousands of customers.

And its cuisine is so popular it has seen three generations of some families come through its doors, which are open seven days a week including all major public holidays.

Mr Rahman said: “We were one of the first Indian takeaways in Oldham – and we’re still here!

“Some of my first customers are still coming in and now bringing their children as well and even grandchildren.

“There are a lot of restaurants and takeaways in Saddleworth and Oldham but not many can say they have been open as long as we have.

“I believe that’s down to our very high quality of food, fresh ingredients and large portion sizes. We also have a vast menu which is very different to other places.”

The takeaway, which has a five-star food hygiene rating, has an extensive offering of dishes from appetisers and starters to traditional dishes, signature dishes and chef’s specials.

Favourites include Chicken Tikka Chat Masala, Chicken Tikka Silsila, Jal Jul, Shashlik Korai, Naga Jal-Fry, Balti Cham Cham, and kebab sandwiches.

Low calorie options are available as well as English dishes and the takeaway also caters for food allergies.

With Lees Tandoori going strong, Mr Rahman opened Lees Spice Lounge just opposite to help meet demand and the restaurant is also flourishing after ten years.
