INSPIRED by fundraiser supreme Captain Tom Moore a Springhead youngster is going the extra mile herself for NHS staff.
Eva Hewitt, a pupil at Knowsley Junior School, hopes to raise about £1,000 by running the equivalent of a marathon.
An initial target of £250 was quickly passed as the enthusiastic seven-year-old headed towards her goal of 26.2 miles.
“It was all Eva’s idea,” explained mum Heather. “She was inspired by Captain Tom Moore seeing how much money he had raised for the NHS.
“We have been actually shocked by how much money she has raised because there are so many people doing different challenges for charity.”
Dad Ryan, who works at Robert Scott’s in Greenfield, keeps Eva company on her runs.
“They go out every evening and usually do about three miles at a time,” said Heather, a Knowsley School teacher.
“It’s not something Eva normally does so it was a challenge. But she has enjoyed it and found it easier as she has gone on.
“That said, where we live at the top of Springhead, there is no getting away from a hill or two.”
