SIGNS OF vandalism have returned to Uppermill as posters erected at the viaduct by local charities and organisations have again been damaged.
The signs are placed there to advertise upcoming events, including concerts and shows, but many were daubed with writing and uprooted over the weekend.
The Saddleworth Male Voice Choir had placed a sign there to promote their forthcoming Concert of Remembrance and chairman John Watts was informed it had been damaged.
He went along with choir member John Redfearn to repair and re-erect their sign as well as others belonging to other organisations.
A choir spokesman said: “We received permission to erect our signs from the highways department some years ago.
“This mindless vandalism is very frustrating for local organisations because some signs are quite expensive to purchase without the extra expense of repairing them.”
