Led by Saddleworth Parish Councillor Graham Sheldon, the meeting will start at 7.30pm and is open to anyone interested in being involved with the group or its committee.

Uppermill is the only Saddleworth village without a residents’ association and Cllr Sheldon, along with Cllr Pam Byrne, want that to change.

Speaking at this month’s Parish Council meeting, Cllr Sheldon, who is postmaster in Uppermill, said: “Residents come to me with quite a lot of problems and really want to get things sorted.

“There is noise disturbance, dealing of drugs in certain areas and the worrying speed of traffic through centre of the village.

“We want to get a residents association up and running as soon as possible to start addressing this for the community.”

Further information about the meeting can be obtained from the Clerk to the Parish Council by e-mail to enquiries@saddleworthparishcouncil.org.uk or by telephone on 01457 876665.
