NO, Love Lydgate have not gone into the replacement windows business but they have certainly contributed to the new ones going into the village’s Parish Hall.
The dedicated group has donated £1,000 towards the project after raising £794.49 by hosting talks in the Parish Hall on the first Monday of each month, and putting in the remainder.
Jennifer Greenwood, Chair of Love Lydgate, said: “This is such an important facility for our community and it definitely needs some TLC.
“It belongs to St Anne’s Church and is managed by a small group of dedicated volunteers. It is a warm comfortable space and is well used. We will continue to raise money and help in any way we can.
“We have had a vast range of speakers and activities in the Parish Hall which not only provide an opportunity for people to get together but also raise money towards the refurbishment.”
The Parish Hall, which was originally the village school, was erected in 1869 and funds are currently being raised to repair and update the building.
Love Lydgate volunteers donned hi-viz jackets as they went on site to see the window replacement project, which cost £5,000 overall, getting underway.
Jennifer said: “The hi-viz jackets keep Love Lydgate volunteers safe when working in the village and also let others see how many people take responsibility for making the place look its best.
“We are always looking for new helpers so we hope others will come and join the hi-viz brigade!”
