A MAN has been arrested following a violent robbery at a house in Uppermill after a manhunt was launched by the police.
John Foster, of no fixed abode, was wanted in connection with the robbery on Ryefields Drive on Sunday, June 8 and has now been found and arrested.
A 43-year-old man was at the house when he was confronted by two offenders, one brandishing a knife, who forced the man onto the couch.
He was bound by his hands and feet, allowing the criminals to ransack the house and steal numerous personal items, including keys for a black Volvo C30 car keys and a tablet computer.
Detective Sergeant Richard Arthern said: “This was a very violent and frightening robbery during which a man was threatened at knifepoint and bound so he could not escape.
“The fact a weapon was used means we need to find those responsible and take this weapon out of circulation so that no-one else can be targeted in this way.”
DI Harratt, of the Oldham Borough CID, led a team of detectives dedicated to tracking the offenders down.
Insp Muz Kernain said: “This is a serious crime that could have resulted in some nasty injuries to the aggrieved had they not complied with the demands of the suspects.
“This type of crime is rare however we ask that members of the public remain alert to and report any suspicious activity or persons to the Police immediately.”
