THE YEAR seven boys’ badminton team from Saddleworth School won eight medals in an Oldham schools’ tournament.
Adam Jones and Luke Taylor captured golds in their respective singles leagues, 
Then with their doubles partners Archie Duncan and Brandon Turner, both won their doubles leagues.
Archie and Brandon also won silver medals in their singles leagues resulting in a clean sweep of the top medals.
Pupils were also among the medals in the Oldham Schools’ Cross Country Championships at Chadderton Hall Park.
Saddleworth finished second overall in the boys’ event and third in the girls.
In the boys, Saddleworth finished runners-up in year seven, third in both years eight and nine and second in a combined year 10/11.
The best individual effort came from Jonathan Marston who was second in the year nine race.
Saddleworth were runners up in the year eight girls and third in year nine.
Nancy Holden was second in the year seven race, Molly Roodhouse was third in year nine while Paige Gardner was third in the year 10/11 race.
The senior basketball team were defeated 83-68 by Reddish Vale in the English Schools’ Cup.
Despite Allistair Lloyd being marked by the England point guard, he was undoubtedly the star of the show amassing 39 individual points and can consider himself more than unlucky to have ended up on the losing side.
Other notable Saddleworth performances came from Rylan Dickinson, Darryl Sham and Matthew Marston.
Year seven pupil Gemma Croft represented Central Lancashire in the Inter Association Swimming Championships.
Gemma made the final in both the girls’ 200m and 400m freestyle.
