NOW IN its third successful year, the Milltown 10k – launched by Oldham Community Leisure (OCL) in 2013 – returns to the town later this month.
Back by popular demand, the 10k takes place on Sunday, June 21, starting at 9.30am from the town centre.
The route, which is much flatter than the challenging Oldham Half Marathon, takes participants on a journey through Shaw and Royton, before returning to the start point.
Race organiser Alan Keane, Senior Health & Physical Activity Development Officer at OCL, said: “The Milltown Race Series are fantastic events for local runners and the community as a whole.
“The 10k is the perfect training run for more experienced runners hoping to complete October half marathon, but it’s also a good opportunity for aspiring runners to raise money for charity and set themselves a challenge.
“We’d love to see as many local people as possible coming out to cheer them along.
“The event wouldn’t be possible without our generous sponsors Oldham Citizens Advice Bureau, Aksa Homes, Richmond Cole kitchens and Hanson Thorpe Precision Tool Makers.”
Temporary road closures will be in place along the route from the start of the race at 9:30am until the main body of runners have passed.
There are still places available for last-minute entrants. Visit www.milltownraces.co.uk or the Milltown Races Facebook page for more information.
