A REMOTE village is planning on having a ball this Christmas with its own festive lights and a celebration switch-on – thanks to a campaign led by a mum-of-three.

Remote Denshaw is usually left out in the cold when it comes to Christmas lights but this year Paula Parslow and a team of neighbours are planning to make the village twinkle.
They will hold their lights switch-on event on Sunday, December 7 at 5pm on Delph Road, possibly with refreshments afterwards.
The Light Up Denshaw project is already attracting funds with offers of financial help from both individuals and organisations including the Rotary Club and the village’s Community Association.
“It seems such a pity every Christmas that people here have to visit other local villages to see a lights switch-on and enjoy the festivities,” said Paula.
“Denshaw is a beautiful place with a great community and we feel it’s about time we put Christmas on the map here too.
“Everybody has been incredibly helpful so far and we’re confident that this year’s Christmas lights will be the foundation for even more ambitious displays and switch-on events in the future.”
Anybody who would like to help the Light Up Denshaw campaign is asked to contact Paula Parslow on 01457 877987 or 07730 802940.
