New programme to help family historians uncover their past at Oldham Local Studies and Archives

FAMILY HISTORIANS can delve into their pasts thanks to a new Autumn programme of events at Oldham Local Studies and Archives.

Whatever level you’re at the Union Street facility aims to offer you the help and advice you need.

There will be a series of Family History Talks on Fridays at 10.30am:

  • Getting Started and Recording Your Family History, 11 September
  • Civil Registration – Understanding Births, Marriages & Deaths, 18 September
  • The Census for Family Historians, 25 September
  • Before Civil Registration – Using Parish Registers, 2 October
  • Wills & Probate Records, 9 October
  • Maps for Family Historians, 16 October

There is no charge for all these events but booking is essential.

In addition,Family History advisors are available every Monday and Wednesday from 2-4pm to help with your research.

Other events taking place include ‘The Origin of Chadderton and Greenacres Cemeteries’ on Friday 11 September from 2pm-3.30pm.

And there will be a free talk by members of the Manchester and Lancashire Family History Society. Booking essential.
