A BUSY car park in the heart of Uppermill will be operating with nine fewer spaces for up to eight weeks while emergency works are carried out to the nearby canal.
Kier on behalf of the Canal River Trust have requested use of the spaces at the Victoria Mill car park by Saddleworth Museum to enable access while they work on the canal.
The car park has 29 spaces, as well as 2 disabled bays which are popular with shoppers, visitors and people who work in the village.
Nine of the space spaces are required to provide essential access before, during and after the works are carried out, with work expected to start on Monday, February 13.
It is possible that only six spaces will be required during the four weeks the actual work is carried out and the contractor will seek to minimise disruption.
It is understood that the disabled bays will remain open and Museum access will be unaffected.
