Nominations sought for prestigious Woman of Oldham 2016 award

THE NEXT ‘Woman of Oldham’ will be crowned in September and the committee is seeking nominations for the prestigious title.

The award honours women who work or live in Oldham and make a significant contribution to local life and the lives of others, with the winner receiving a beautiful crystal bowl.

Last year’s winner was Saddleworth-based Joan Halkyard in recognition of her various voluntary work and unstinting fund raising efforts.

Now, the Committee is looking at nominations for this year’s award over the coming weeks and welcomes any suggestions.

The award will be presented at the Annual Charity Luncheon at the White Hart Hotel, Lydgate on Wednesday, September 14.

All proceeds from the luncheon and other fund-raising events this year will be donated to Kingfisher School.
