A DAZZLING display of trees filled St Chad’s Parish Centre in Uppermill for their annual Christmas Tree Festival.

Local businesses, churches and other groups came up with innovative and colourful decorations for visitors to enjoy over the three-day event.
St Chad’s All Stars decorated their tree with faces of actors from their recent production of Aladdin while Saddleworth Wine Vault created a tree of out cardboard boxes.
The Sacred Heart put on a wonderful nativity scene along with their tree and Yorkshire Country Women offered reindeer and bells.
Proceeds from the festival will go towards the 800th anniversary celebrations of St Chad Church in 2015.
And a first ever Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary’s Church in Greenfield, organised by Pat Bottom, saw 16 trees erected inside the church and decorated by businesses in the village.

Moonstone gift shop and psychic venue hung gift vouchers on their tree while pupils at St Mary’s School left messages to their friends.
Greenfield and Grasscroft Residents’ Association decorated their tree brightly and visitors were invited to help dress Forever Angels’ tree by putting an angel on the branches.
Visitors tucked into mulled wine and mince pies every evening as they enjoyed entertainment and admired the displays over a week.
The festival was officially opened by Saddleworth Parish Council Chairman Graham Sheldon, with entertainment throughout the week including Detours band, children’s story time, a film showing and harp music by Sarah Davies.
There were also performances from brass band and choirs from Greenfield Primary School and St Mary’s, Dobcross Brass Monkeys and Soul Inspiration Gospel Choir.
