OLDHAM Choral Society is delighted to host an evening with the well-known baritone Donald Maxwell at Chadderton Town Hall on Friday, March 15 at 7.30pm.
Donald has sung with the society many times and this evening will be more about his life in the world of opera and operetta.
During the evening’s entertainment the Scottish pensioner will offer up an autobiographical trip along the highways and byways of a singer’s life.
There will be some simple songs by Gilbert and Sullivan and Flanders and Swann, coupled with a variety of other worthless ditties and even a piece of Verdi.
Donald will be joined by soprano Eleanor Hull, who is studying at the Royal Northern College of Music under internationally acclaimed soprano Lynne Dawson.
Her recent operatic experience include Arminda in La Finta Giardiniera (RNCM Scenes) and Chorus in The Enchanted Island (British Youth Opera) as well as musical theatre roles such as Blanche Ingram in Jane Eyre (ABD Productions) and Christine Daae in The Phantom of the Opera (DTC Productions).
The whole extravaganza will be accompanied by Professor Nigel Wilkinson.
All members are welcome to come along with their friends for a good evening’s entertainment. Tickets cost £10 from choir members or 0161 797 3583.
