Oldham Council is supporting ‘Love Your Local Market’ for the fifth year in a row with a series of activities and promotions.
Residents could win £50 worth of Tommyfield Market shopping vouchers just by saying why they love Oldham’s market traders.
The local authority is running a social media competition as part of ‘Love Your Local Market’, which is a national campaign celebrating Britain’s markets.
With a fantastic variety of traders operating at more than seven markets across the borough, including the new traditional Wednesday market at Chadderton and Sunday morning car boot at Tommyfield, many residents visit on a daily basis.
Whether it is a time when you received excellent customer service, or when a trader went the extra mile to help you with your shopping, Oldham Council wants to hear your trader tale.
To enter, all residents have to do is submit their trader tale via a tweet or Facebook post to the council’s main social media channels – Twitter: @OldhamMarkets Facebook: Oldham Markets – using the hashtag #TraderTale.
Helen Lockwood, Executive Director of Economy, Skills and Neighbourhoods, said: “Love your Local Market is a good way to celebrate the borough’s markets and all that they offer to the local community.
“Our markets have lots of great bargains and produce on offer and by buying from stallholders you are supporting local traders and the economy.”
Competition entries close at 5pm on Sunday 11 June and the winner will be announced on the council’s social media channels at 12noon on Wednesday 14 June.
The Love Your Local Market 2017 campaign is led by the National Association of British Market Authorities, with full support from the wider markets industry and government.
If you have ever wondered about opening a stall then this could be the perfect opportunity for you. There are a number of incentives for new traders on all of Oldham’s markets including the £5 Friday offer on Tommyfield’s outdoor market.
