Oldham face Whitehaven away for starters in 2018 season

OLDHAM Rugby League Club’s League 1 campaign in 2018 begins on Sunday, February 18 with a tough test in Cumbria against last season’s beaten promotion finalists Whitehaven.

The first home league game is against Hemel Stags on Sunday, March 4.

In a division of 14 clubs there will be 13 home games and 13 away in a competition that runs to the weekend of September 22/23, followed by the promotion semi-final on September 30 and the final on October 7.

The RFL has confirmed the team finishing top will gain automatic promotion to the Championship, while a play-off system involving the four teams finishing second to fifth will determine the second promotion spot.

Bradford Bulls will be hot favourites to win the title, but several other clubs, including Scott Naylor’s Oldham, will fancy their chances of pushing them all the way with promotion at the first attempt as the ultimate prize.

Oldham go to Bradford on Good Friday (3pm), but the return fixture is not until Sunday, September 16, the last home game.

Oldham fans who buy a season ticket before December 22 will watch three of 13 home League 1 games next season free of charge.

That’s what they save when buying up front compared with paying at the turnstiles each time Roughyeds have home advantage in a division that promises to be the best and most competitive for years.

Adults can save up to £48; over-65s up to £42; and under-16s up to £25.

Fans can pay on-line with debit or credit card and with an option of spreading payment with instalments in November, December and January so long as the first instalment is paid by November 30.

Biggest savings will be available up to December 22 and the office will be open from 11am to 3pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and from 9.30am to 3pm  on Fridays. For more information ring 07904 898177.

Outside of on-line purchases, all others will require cash or cheque.

STANDING: adults £140; over-65s £120; under-16s £20.

SEATS: adults £160; over-65s £140; under-16s £40.
