Oldham Mountain Rescue Team hold grand open day

RESIDENTS FLOCKED to a Grand Open Day to celebrate Oldham Mountain Rescue Team’s fifty years of helping the community and alleviating distress in remote and difficult areas.

Volunteer members of the team were on hand to talk about their work while photos and display boards were also erected to chronicle their story over the decades.

Members also showed off their specialised equipment, including stretchers and medical equipment, and vehicles and introduced their team dogs Bob and Ty to visitors.

GMP joined in to demonstrate how they deal with incidents and work alongside the team.

And a special banner featuring all the entries in the team’s recent 50th anniversary logo competition – including winners Greg Huntington and Henry Stacey – was on show.

There was also a host of fun activities for all to get involved with, including a zip wire, a climbing wall, rescue cableway, fake wound painting and geocaching.
