A MAGGIE’S Centre will open on the site of the Royal Oldham Hospital in June this year.
Maggie’s Oldham has been made possible by the enormous generosity of the Stoller Charitable Trust, which has fully funded the building of the Centre.
Maggie’s is a widely recognised support service and provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends.
Maggie’s is a place to find practical advice about benefits and eating well, qualified experts provide emotional support, and there is relaxation, yoga and Thai Chi and most importantly Maggie’s is a place to meet other people in a similar situation to you or to simply sit quietly with a cup of tea at the kitchen table.
Maggie’s is a charity that relies solely on voluntary donations and fundraising, and Oldham Rugby League Football Club has formed a partnership with them to help them raise funds and awareness.
2017 is the 20th anniversary of the new Oldham club and to recognise that Roughyeds have donated their main kit sponsorship for this season to Maggie’s to raise awareness.
To back that up, a “Superdraw 2017” will be launched on Tuesday, April 25 which will give individuals and companies the opportunity to buy raffle tickets to raise funds for both Maggie’s Oldham and Oldham Rugby League Community Trust.
Tickets cost £100 each but prizes are worth thousands. First prize is a 2018 kit sponsorship worth £10,000; second prize is kit sponsorship worth £5,000; and there are other prizes worth hundreds of pounds.
The launch of “Superdraw 2017” will be at Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Parliament Square, (near the new Odeon Cinema) from 5.30pm to 7pm and anyone interested is invited to attend, but they must first contact Oldham RLFC on 07904 898177.
