Oldham Rugby League club to wear ‘We Love MCR’ symbol on kit after terror attack

AS a demonstration of support for everyone affected by the Manchester bomb attack, Oldham Rugby League Club’s on-field support staff will wear the ‘We Love MCR’ tag-line on their kit at the televised Summer Bash clash with Rochdale Hornets at Blackpool on Saturday.

With official approval from the Rugby Football League, it will be worn by the Roughyeds’ head trainer, doctor, physiotherapist and water carriers.

Said club chairman Chris Hamilton: “Our hearts are with everyone who lost loved ones; those who are injured; and everyone else who was directly or indirectly affected by what happened in Manchester on Monday.

“As a club, we are also extremely grateful for the magnificent job done by the emergency services, especially at times like this.

“On a high profile weekend for the Kingstone Press Championship we felt it would be appropriate to show our support and solidarity in this way.”

A minute’s silence will be held on three separate occasions over the two-day Summer Bash event, one of them before the Oldham versus Rochdale game tomorrow, which kicks off at 2.30pm and will be televised live on Sky Sports 3.
