OMRT needs your help

DEDICATED volunteers from Oldham Mountain Rescue Team are encouraging locals to help support their crucial work through donations.

Each year, the team needs to find a minimum of £40,000 to cover their running costs and ensure they can continue to serve the local community.

You can purchase your OMRT t-shirt at Saddleworth Outdoor in Uppermill

The team, which was formed in 1964, carries out search and rescue operations for people in difficulties in the Peak District National Park and beyond.

They also help police, fire, and ambulance services with urban incidents throughout Greater Manchester whenever their specialist skills, equipment and manpower are necessary.

To help raise funds to continue these efforts, they have launched an on-going poster campaign in conjunction with pubs, shops and restaurants across Saddleworth and Mossley.

The establishments are putting up eye-catching posters to remind their customers of the work OMRT does and to encourage them to donate.

The posters include details on how to donate quickly and easily via text message: text OMRT11 £10 to 70070 to donate £10.

You can also donate to OMRT through their Just Giving page: or Facebook page.

Meanwhile, Saddleworth Outdoor, which sells equipment and clothing for sport, leisure and adventure on Uppermill High Street, has a new addition to its range.

It is selling official Oldham Mountain Rescue Team supporter t-shirts – which is a uni-sex and one size fits all grey top – for £10, with all proceeds going directly to the Team.
