OSFC student ready to show skills on the dancefloor in nightclub play

AN OLDHAM student will be hitting a nightclub dancefloor for a very different reason after being cast in a pioneering production.

Amy Bent will play two roles – a witch and a murderer – in Oldham Coliseum’s production of Macbeth, which is being staged at Liquid and Envy from October 23 until November 7.

The year 13 student at Oldham Sixth Form College (OSFC) is currently studying A Levels in Drama and Theatre Arts, Film Studies and Fine Art.

She has been acting for three years after getting involved in her first production in secondary school, starring in a Co-op Academies Trust Production.

Amy also regularly teaches drama in local schools to inspire younger children and has also been chosen to be one of the ambassadors for Oldham’s year as Greater Manchester’s Town of Culture.

And when she finishes at OSFC, she will work with Oldham Theatre Workshop, continue to teach and work on film projects with new and emerging production company Hall Productions as a director/producer during a gap year.

“I am really looking forward to playing both roles that I have been cast in,” Amy said about her forthcoming appearances.

“It’s exciting to be putting a new spin on long-standing characters from Shakespeare.

“I am really enjoying working with the director, Nick Bagnall, too as he is allowing the cast a chance to play around with their characters and explore new ways of bringing them to life.”
