A cockapoo from Springhead really is top dog after landing a starring role in a hit Christmas musical.
And while pooches may be known as man’s best friend in this case Pascha’s tail of success is all down to proud owner and trainer Alisha D’Adamo.
The adorable pup was selected from hundreds of other waggy-tailed hopefuls to land the role of Toto in the Wizard of Oz at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens in December.

Already Pascha and 13-year-old Alisha, who also trains an American Cockapoo Mika, have enjoyed a moment in the spotlight.
They followed the M55 rather than the yellow brick road to attend last month’s press call with human stars, Kelvin Fletcher (ex Emmerdale) and Holly Tandy (X Factor).
“The dogs are Alisha’s life,” said mum Hayley-Jane D’Adamo.
“I am very proud of her and what she has achieved.”
Alisha has been diagnosed with autism and is home schooled due to anxiety.
“I was worried what would happen after she left school,” added Hayley-Jane. “But this just shows that she can achieve something.”
Auditions took place in August and contestants were narrowed down to three before a panel of four judges.
An impromptu scene with Dorothy proved the deal clincher as Pascha performed perfectly and landed the role of Toto along with another pup, Teddy.
The dogs will perform in alternate weeks throughout the run from December 7-30.

Winning owners also received £500 to cover expenses during the run of the show.
Holly takes the lead role as Dorothy while Kelvin plays the Tin Man.
Asked about the prospect of working with Pascha and Teddy, Holly replied: “They really are adorable.
“My only concern is what if they go to the toilet on stage?! You know, what if there’s an impromptu poop?!”
