A CARING group is urging the public to help raise much-needed funds for Saddleworth Museum by attending a special performance of a poignant play this month.
‘The ‘Accrington Pals’’ will be performed on Monday, November 24 at the Millgate Arts Centre in Delph as the Saddleworth Players give their tribute to the Great War.
And proceeds from the show will all go to Saddleworth Museum, which has just received a £1million Heritage Lottery Grant, to help with day-to-day running costs.
Jane McCann, from the Friends of Saddleworth Museum, explained “Even though the Museum’s bid has been successful, it still needs a lot of money each year just to keep the place running.
“The HLF grant cannot be used to pay items such as utility bills, staff wages, etc. Therefore fundraising is still essential for these purposes.
“Our concern is the public will mistakenly think that the museum doesn’t need any further help from them, which is far from the case.”
Tickets cost £12 each, including an early supper at 5.30pm prior to the show at 7.30pm, and are available from Jenny Begley: 01457 874539.
